KnowledgeTree Open Source 3.3 Released
December 12, 2006 – 11:35 pmKnowledgeTree Open Source 3.3 has been released. Loads of goodness all round and in particular I really, really like the new UI.
We’ll have the demo server updated with 3.3 over the next few days but in the mean time, be sure to download it and try it out.
We’ll be building on the new UI, cleaning up more of the user interface and essentially doing a significant amount of polishing during the 3.3.x cycle.
More on our roadmap for Q1-Q3 2007 to come over the next few weeks…

Perhaps you guys could get your Quality Assurance department to be a little bit more thorough in their testing before you release a new version. The Bug that does not allow the creation of Units is a blatant oversite that should have been caught well before this software was released to the user community. This bug renders your software completely useless for a number of users who want to utilize the security features as advertised.
I also understand that you have fixed this bug internally, but the patch has not been made public…
Poor business practice. Very poor.

Hello,
I\’m sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with KnowledgeTree Open Source Edition. It\’s worthwhile noting that KnowledgeTree Open Source Edition allows the open source community early access to new functionality and releases are made often and early in a development cycle: a very common phenomenon in open source.
KnowledgeTree Open Source\’s quality depth is driven both by our internal QA processes and the open source community. While we do put significant effort into QA on the Open Source Edition, we rely extensively on the community to provide us with feedback, bug reports, code contributions and improvement suggestions. Our commercial editions undergo more extensive QA and as such we commercially support commercial edition releases.
We\’d be more than happy to provide you with a patch. We very often provide patches on our issue management system when requested by users: http://issues.knowledgetree.com/
An alternative is to get the latest source code from the SourceForge.Net SVN repository.
Please note that we will be releasing a 3.3 bug fix release in the first week of January. Again, we want to release updates as often as we can (and get new functionality out to you at the same time).
