Release of KnowledgeTree Open Source 3.3 Tech Preview
November 8, 2006 – 9:31 amFor the first time in a long time we’re releasing a tech preview of an open source edition of KnowledgeTree. KnowledgeTree Open Source 3.3 Tech Preview has loads of new goodies that we’re kinda proud of (see below.) We’d love your feedback (the forums are a good place for that) and help with stabilizing this new release (log issues on the issue tracker).
If you’re confused by the version numbering scheme and version inflation, please see my version number blog post here.
A list of the new goodies may be found below.
Collapsible Action menus, reducing the clutter around different types of actions:
Drag and drop-able dashboard dashlet items. We don’t yet remember where the dashlets have been repositioned for by a user but will by the time 3.3 gets to release.
And in more detail for end-users:
- New AJAX Dashboard (works well on Firefox, less so on IE 7 and not yet on IE 6)
- Forms now remember values if they’re not filled in correctly and raise errors around incorrect entries
- Workflow Wizard, making workflow creation much easier
- More intuitive layout on browse and documents pages
- Users can be created at login time from Active Directory and LDAP
- Improved bulk actions - better user interaction, and ability to use bulk actions on search results
- Metadata management process improved, more intuitive
For developers:
- Ability to change the login sequence with plugins, including auto-creating users from authentication sources, or using an Apache module
- Ability to create bulk actions, like Move and Delete in previous versions.
- Forms infrastructure makes it easier to create forms, and have forms behave as expected in terms of error handling.

I’m looking forward to the new enhancements. Any change it is PHP 5 compatible?

Hi Dandyman,
3.3 has not been rearchitected for PHP5.

Hi,I’m using KTDMS Opens Source from 2.0 and I have installed every successive versions. Now I have 3.1a.
I have tried the 3.3 preview and I’m enthusiastic for the improvements on KT functionalities and structure.
Compliments, I’m waiting the final version to implement it on production environment.
Bye
P.s. If you permit, I have only a request, on documents metadata property page could you add the possibility to correct the type of the file (word, excel, ecc) if it’s wrong? Thank you.

Hello
We have delayed the download of KTv.3.3 due to the compatability problems with IE 6&7. When do you expect to resolve this problem?
By writer201 on Nov 14, 2006
We’re working on them and hope to have them sorted out soon.
We’d prefer not to preannounce the release date for next release but hope to have something out over the next few weeks.
